Client not reported >30 days
Hello all,
I tried to run a report ID #140 - (Clients that have not reported recently (in a specified number of days)) & to my surprise there is over 2500 client in my organization not reporting their status more than 30 days.
I can't go to 1 machine and another just to fix this. I'm wondering what can be done to get the latest status of these clients, whether they are still good, have been uninstalled, having corruption or anything else.
Should I just create a collection of these clients and then attempt to re-install with "repair or upgrade" options?
Thank you for sharing your opinion.

Have you installed client status reporting? Have you enabled all the default maint tasks in SCCM? Especially do you have the clear install flag option turned on?

Just pick one client from the list above and initiate a hardware inventory and data discovery cycle. Wait some minutes and see if the values get updated. It might be possible that the MP is no longer working and inventory/discovery data does not make it
to the database.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

thanks Torsten,
i will try to do discovery as suggested
however, there are around 16k clients and there's only 2 site systems with MP configured for the role.. not sure which one is failing---Packie

look at MP logs(Mpcontrol.log--keeps track with the status for every 10 min) for troubleshooting.
You can use sms collection commander(http://sourceforge.net/projects/smscollctr/) to intiate discovery methods per collection wise OR group of computers as well.

Yes that's the tool. I'm wondering is these machines are even really online? Have you tried to just ping them all and see how many respond? I always enable the clear install flag task.

Hi John,
Yes, the machines are online
I did as Torsten suggested, and some are getting positive feedback after I did hardware/software inventory and data discovery cycle remotely (using Roger Zander's SCCM Client Center tool).
Some which is not reporting might need a client reinstall/repair which I hope I can build a collection based on query.
Hopefully experts here can help me with building a query of Report ID #140: (Clients that have not reported recently (in a specified number of days)) ?
Thank you in advanced!---Packie

i found the WQL here, but it's for last hardware scan only
http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/gramsey/archive/2007/04/25/using-datediff-and-getdate-in-wql-for-sms-queries-and-collections.aspx
my report shows sum of 2500 clients which is not reported recently, but while running the query I got only 1900 clients in the results
I guess it is because the query only did for last hardware inventory, last software inventory and last discovery data is excluded
it will be good if it can be combined into a single query to match the report result (Report ID #140: (Clients that have not reported recently (in a specified number of days))
Thank you all.---Packie

I've created a collection of machines which not reported DDR, HW/SW Inventory record for more than 30days, then use SMS/SCCM Collection Commander http://smscollctr.sourceforge.net/ by Roger Zander to run DDR, HW/SW Inventory client actions.
Checked again tomorrow, the client is no longer listed under the report ID #140.
Thanks all for helping me to resolve this issue! :)---Packie
